Deoxycholic acid is a substance that your body produces naturally to help break down and absorb fat. When the manmade form of the acid is injected into fat tissue, it destroys the fat cells and eliminates them permanently from the body.
The Consultation
A consultation is required before scheduling your fat-dissolving procedure. During this complimentary consultation, the Nurse Practitioner will review your medical history, assess the treatment area, discuss the risks and benefits of the procedure, and answer any questions you may have. If you're a suitable candidate for treatment, the procedure will be scheduled at that time. The consultation typically lasts about 30 minutes and is completely free of charge.
The Procedure
Topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area for approximately 30 minutes prior to the injections. The medication will be injected into the treatment area in several small injections. You will feel a burning sensation during the procedure, and ice will be applied to the area to promote comfort. The burning sensation will subside over time. Most patients find the procedure tolerable and well worth the results. Repeat sessions can be offered 4-6 weeks apart, to a maximum of 6 sessions in total to achieve desirable results. The cost of the procedure is $375 per session.
